Windows is Better Than Linux

www.lockergnome.com Windows is better than Linux? How very dare we say such a thing? This is actually a big, fat lump of troll bait that should be reeling them in all the way from the other side of the Internet. Oh, how we look forward to the indignant feedback. Truly. @purrability
Everything from Ubuntu 10.04 – Mint 12 has given me this problem. I have this problem everytime with Linux. Never with Windows.

@BigBobsh2o Which distro did you use? Because I had lots of trouble with windows in terms of freezing. I had a laptop and I have no idea why but it seemed to troll me every time I booted up because windows often stuck at the boot screen. I reinstalled it several times including drivers, checked the hardware and still it just stopped booting after boot screen. Then I installed ubuntu 10.04 and it worked without crashing for 2 and a half years. Well programmes crashed sometimes but not the os.

windows only works oob if it’s pre-installed on a computer. otherwise it’s driver hunting weekend for you. os x does, but not because it’s far more superior, rather because it’s fine-tuned to specific (mac) hardware. try installing it on a pc and you’ll see what i mean.

from a consumer point of view, os x is the winner. from a corporate or gamer point of view, windows is the winner. and from a diy point of view, linux is the winner.

that said, i use linux, and i tend to like unix-based os’s.

In many ways I think Windows is more stable. I’ve had Linux freezes but never a freeze or BSOD in Windows 7.

Plus every time I use 3D effects in the desktop I get video play freezes along with desktop freezes. I use the recommended driver and all plus my graphics card isn’t even that advanced (Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE). But it still shouldnt have those problems.

Whenever I’m running Windows my desktop and video play is always smooth.

I’m still not a Windows Fan Boy by no means.

It’s really just a matter of drivers. If someone could figure out a way to organize and develop a one stop shop of device drivers then you’d see Ubuntu or OpenSuse take off as they offer freedom on a level Windows simply can’t. It just seems the Linux community is so disorganized that this will never happen. People will continue to be frustrated and lets face the facts 99% of PC users would blow a headgasket if they were asked to use the command line.

    windows ftw

I dual boot Windows with Linux and frankly it’s the best way to go. I would never tell someone to completely get rid of Windows.

    @PhoenixOpenProject Bla bla bla. :)

I care too much? (about…?) What makes you think I give two shits bout you? You are one who cared enough to tell me what I should and shouldn’t look for in a tech/OS comparision video, and that I should “just watch the video and enjoy”. Rather what you really should do is “fuck off and stop” being dumb, irrevelant, and inane.

  10. 0x28 says:

@PhoenixOpenProject Haha you care too much. Like I figured, a pansy.

  11. BobsAwesomeCannel says:

The laptop with amd 300 took half an hour to install Madriva with all option software

I see you having a good time TRYING to be showy.
“If I want software, I program it myself” *scoffs* I ain’t even gonna bother commenting on that. It’s pretty self-revealing of the person’s character and intentions.

“Just watch the video and enjoy” You sound like you’re real satisfied with his comparision. What else did he offer besides saying Windows is easier to use to claim it better? As for asking him about his background, well… I don’t know what kind of videos and quasi-techtalks you’ve been watching but in any REAL discussion you’d hear the person mention about their experience on the topic. And how about you stop trolling?

  15. 0x28 says:

@BobsAwesomeCannel That’s not the same as Mandriva with all optional applications enabled. Try it.

  16. BobsAwesomeCannel says:

@0×28 Oh and a desktop computer with 16 year old hardware, pentium 1.4ghz, 512mb ram, ubuntu installed in under 20 minutes on that one

  17. BobsAwesomeCannel says:

@0×28 I have a laptop with a AMD 300 single core 1.6ghz and 1gb ddr3 ram and it installed in under half an hour. So you just have a messed up laptop. Fucking dope :L

  18. ptreducto says:

This video is the example that you shouldn’t generalize things

  19. 0x28 says:

Windows a lot easier to deal with?! I have encountered over a thousand errors in my years of using Windows.

  20. 0x28 says:

Software available. LoL. If I want software, I program it myself.

  21. 0x28 says:

    @marsh84722 Very true. :)

  22. 0x28 says:

@BobsAwesomeCannel You’re kidding. The first Mandriva 9 install I did took around 4.5 hours on my laptop (which has 2 GB DDR2 RAM dual channel and a TK-55 CPU). You put standards too high. We don’t all have i7′s. Fucking freak.

  23. 0x28 says:

@PhoenixOpenProject How typical of humans to be curious about other people’s abilities and background. It is the nature of the psyche – to be competitive. How about you fuck off and stop asking people about their background? You must be a real dickhead. Just watch the video and enjoy. For fucks sake. Go read some Dolly books, you insecure pansy.

@DarkShadesOfGrey I actually have only used Linux mint once, and it wasn’t bad at all :) Soo many distros to choose from. Ordinarily, I have my laptop installed with windows 7, Backtrack 5 (used to be four), Ubuntu 11, and a few repair Cd’s built in so I don’t have to worry about carrying a repair flash drive everywhere if I get a virus. Do keep going with linux :) ultimately, I prefer distros with a reconfigured gnome to kde. Also, backtrack cracks secured wifi passwords :)
